Everyone has a favourite Cornish Town right? Maybe beaches are your thing and you love places such as St Ives or Newquay? Or are you a foodie and you have a penchant for one of the many Cornwall seaside towns made famous by famous Chefs such as Paul Ainsworth (Rock), Rick Stein (Padstow) or Nathan Outlaw (Port Isaac)? Or maybe you like the traditional Cornish Coastal look and prefer one of the idyllic picture postcard villages such as Fowey, St Mawes or Mousehole? Whatever bit of Cornwall you like the best, Home and Bay are in the process of developing our Cornwall Gift Hampers range to encompass everything we all love about these beautiful places!
Firstly, introducing our Flagship Padstow Box
Home and Bay’s office is based near the wonderful estuary town of Padstow so what better place to begin our new range of Cornwall Gift Hampers. The bustling town of Padstow with its attractive working harbour is an eclectic mix of fisherman's cottages and merchant's houses and is one of Cornwall's premiere holiday resorts. It is currently probably best known for being the home to Rick Stein’s World-famous Seafood restaurant which regular gets a mention in the Michelin guide and has been serving millions of satisfied customers since 1975. Stein also has other eateries scattered across Padstow such as his Bistro, Café and Fish and Chip shop. But don’t make the mistake that Padstow, with its nickname “Padstein”, is only all about one famous chef... there are now numerous fantastic eateries to choose from such Caffe Rojano, Prawn on the Lawn and Paul Ainsworth at Number 6 which are all highly regarded and have many followers and fans. The Home and Bay Padstow Gift box tries to encapsulate the independent, artisan, luxury side of Padstow and blend that with its rustic, traditional estuary-based harbour and old town charm to create a luxury gift box you’ll be proud to present to your friends or loved ones.
Secondly: Fistral Beach
The world-famous Fistral, one of Cornwall’s most iconic beaches, is one of the most consistent and best surfing beaches in the UK and Europe. With jewel-blue sea and a sweeping stretch of golden sand, Fistral is stunning, exciting and challenging for surfers. Facing the mighty Atlantic Ocean head-on, the constant and uninterrupted westerly winds ensure a persistent swell of perfect surfing waves all year round. Clean, dog-friendly, and patrolled almost year-round by highly trained lifeguards, Fistral is also the perfect family beach, offering the classic seaside pleasures of sand and surf and ice creams in the sun. Every year Fistral Beach hosts Boardmasters, Europe’s largest surf and skate festival in August. Tens of thousands flock to see the competitions and huge headliner bookings in the music lineup has made it one of the UK’s top cultural festivals in recent years. Our Fistral Gift Box reflects the wild seas, golden sands, bright sunshine and party feel of this vibrant beach.
Thirdly: Port Isaac
On the north Cornwall coast lying equidistant between the surfing town of Polzeath and Tintagel, the alleged resting place of King Arthur, lies the vibrant fishing village of Port Isaac. This quintessential picture postcard harbour town is famous across the globe as the home of Doc Martin and also more locally known for the Fisherman’s Friends, a musical group who sing sea shanties. Visitors can wander leisurely down the pretty narrow single street lined with locally-owned shops selling gifts and artisan produce, reaching the harbour at the bottom with its beautiful views out to sea. Grab a quick bite to eat and watch the tourists walk by at one of the many friendly cafes such as Chapel Café, the Krab Pot or the Angry Anchovy, or for those with very deep pockets there’s two Nathan Outlaw restaurants to choose from, New Road and Fish Kitchen. Our Gift Box celebrates Port Isaac as a foodie destination and comes with a Becky Bettesworth print that captures the breathtaking romantic prettiness of this famous old village.
