At Home and Bay we are sometimes amazed at how far away people who want Cornwall Gifts delivered from us live. When we first started our online store selling luxury homeware, coastal-style gifts and Cornish goodies we certainly expected lots of interest from places we thought the majority of Cornwall holiday makers would live, such as Bristol, London and Birmingham. And while we have received plenty of orders from those lovely places, we have received just as many from Manchester, Wales and Scotland!

In fact, last year a whopping 20% of all of our orders came from Scotland, from places as far out as Orkney and the Shetland Isles. Cornwall really does have its fans from all four corners of Britain. Do many Scottish people regularly holiday in Cornwall? What a round trip that must be! But totally worth it, obviously.

What has amazed us equally has been Royal Mail’s ability to deliver to all these far-out places of the UK too. There is no extra charge whether you’re sending a parcel 50 miles up the road to Exeter or 850 miles and a boat ride to remote Scottish Islands. And according to our recollection, we only had one parcel arrive late to one of those remote places, and that was only by a day.

It may have been a different story had those orders from faraway Islands of the UK come in at Christmas, as Royal Mail was delivering parcels late left right and centre, even to the most straightforward postcodes like Plymouth, Oxford and Worcester. But they all got there in the end!

Of course, the outer reaches of Scotland is not the furthest away we’ve received and order... oh no. We have received a couple of orders from USA, one from Canada, China and another from Australia! Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity yet to fulfil orders outside the UK so have had to decline these orders, but we have been blown away by the worldwide interest. Cornwall and its produce is literally loved across the globe, and rightly so.
